Draft Magazine Front cover

This is the image that I chose to use when it came to creating my magazine front cover. I thought that the use of lighting followed my genre of a horror well as it created the image of mystery. The background space of the image itself would also allow me some room when it came to including my masthead, puffs and plugs. The actual image itself in terms of the hand holding the light bulb I feel is very effective when capturing the narrative of my trailer as well as adding for the viewer the uncomfortable image of the blood seeping from the hand due to the glass. The space within the image also allowed me the room to do any cropping that I felt may benifit the layount and presentation of my magazine front cover. When it comes to the name of my magazine front cover I came up with the idea of 'Film Reel' which would be my main masthead presented within my final poster. From looking at my research I noticed that the layout of magazine front covers played an important role when interesting the reader to read and buy the magazine, therefore I want to make sure that I stick to the stereotypes that are expected within many other well known magazine front covers.



Draft poster

This image was origionally the draft that I was going to use when it came to editing and choosing my images. I liked the way in which the background image contained the light itself, which was something that I felt was essential within my poster in order to give my target audience the chance to make up their own minds as to what my film is about. The text itself is well done and I thought that by making it slightly out focused added extra effect towards the idea of the unknown, as well as promoting the feeling of confusion and mystery. I wanted to stick to having more of a central image which follows more of professional outlook and allowed me to use the small space to input my critics quotes and ratings.

This is my draft for my first ancillary task of my horror film poster. I wanted to make sure that I incorporated the stereotypical conventions that would allow my poster to portray a professional impression on my target audience, as well as create an atmosphere that established my chosen genre of a horror. The use of no colour draws most of the attention to the light bulb centred in the middle of the poster; this also adds effect to the name of my film and allows my narrative to link with it easily. The lighting is bright with the use of dark edges; this allowed me to portray quite an eerie image which would, therefore attract my target audience into watching my trailer. I wanted to make sure that the type of font I used suited the genre, which meant that it was important for me to stick to my overall simplistic misenscene. I wanted to make sure that my target audience were left guessing as to what the trailer would be like as well as what the storyline is.
